Church Survey Results 2025

Summary of church survey results

(Trinity Church Modbury, Sunday May 4)

Thanks to everyone who took part in our recent congregational survey (we had 134 participants).

There were some encouraging observations:

Private devotions: 59% of people have daily times of prayer, meditation and Bible reading, with 87% doing so at least weekly.

Sense of belonging: 84% reported a strong sense of belonging at our church.

Growth in faith: 88% believe they have grown in their faith in the last year.

Inviting to church: 82% of us would be prepared to invite someone to church, with 53% having done so in the last year.

Praying for unbelievers: 69% are praying for unbelievers at least once a week – a significant increase from last year’s mission survey.

There were also some key correlations within the data:

(We need to be careful drawing conclusions from correlations, given the cause and effect isn’t always clear, but nonetheless some insightful patterns are observable)

A longer time attending church is linked with stronger sense of belonging

This is not overly surprising, but it’s a helpful reminder for us to be welcoming not just to newcomers, but those who are still relatively new, as their sense of belonging will still be developing.

Involvement with a community group and ministry team are both linked with a stronger sense of belonging

This shows the value of being in a community group and a ministry team – not just for personal spiritual growth but for a greater sense of connectedness.

Involvement with a community group and ministry team are linked with a willingness to invite people to church and Life

This indicates that increased involvement brings not just a stronger sense of belonging, but an increased confidence to invite people along.

Praying for unbelievers is linked with a willingness to invite people to church and Life

This shows the importance of evangelistic prayer not just in expressing our dependence on God, but also shaping our own hearts and actions.

We plan to do this survey annually moving forwards, in order to continually gauge these important aspects of our church life.
